I have the disease and its expensive.

Ok, so the Nikon came with the basic lens kit.
Then I bought the 200mm Nikkor tele.

Today, following Bill's rec, I picked up a 300mm.

Now watching for the 24mm prime.
This is awfully expensive.

Is there a cure?

Or buy more lottery tickets...

LOL

Damn you guys....

Put the wife to work. If she is already working, tell her to get a second job.

Get ya a TC1.4. It seems expensive until you learn what a wonderful addition it is. I'm not sure which 300 you got but if it's the F4 adding the TC makes it a fantastic 420 that still has the same minimum focusing distance as the 300 and doesn't degrade the image quality at all. Loosing a stop for clse up stuff doesnt matter since youll probably be shooting stopped way down for DOF. Makes a wonderful critter getter as it normally keeps you outside their fear zone.

These are a few examples with the 300 f4 and TC1.4:

The one I wound up with is the Nikon 55-300mm f/4.5-5.6G ED VR AF-S DX Nikkor Zoom Lens for Nikon Digital SLR

It never ends. I bought the 70-200 f2.8 a while back when I bought a new body and now I am looking really hard at the 24-70 f2.8. Glass is addicting but then there is the other stuff along the way, strobes, wireless triggers, light modifiers... Its gonna get real bad soon.
