How I carry my gear on the bike....

I posted this in another thread on here and thought some here might find it useful.

I have the same Wolfman bag. I used it on another bike, but am planning on using it on my new streetfighter. This site/article,(MotoJournalism: Packing camera gear on the motorcycle) has the pics and writeup of my setup.
I retrofitted it and use it to carry my camera and lenses (I have the waterproof cover for it also).

You have any concerns about vibration?

Not at all. The bottom of that tank-bag is padded as any Lowepro or tamrac bag would be. My only issue was securing the rest of the bag. That I did by grabbing the inserts out of one of my other lowepro bags. Worked absolutely perfectly. The problem I always came across previously to this was having to wear a backpack and when you know you're going to have to stop, take the bag off, open it up and take the picture, the likelihood of stopping is much lower. With this setup I found I didn't even have to get off the bike. The camera was RIGHT there in front of me. Again, worked flawlessly. Just make sure to get the waterproof cover.

I planned on carrying in a backpack, but I like your setup better.

I think you'll be glad you did. It makes a world of difference. When we took our first long trip I ended up with just a few pictures because of how difficult it was to get the camera out of the backpack. Second trip with this setup I had loads of good shots.

Went out for a ride today and didn't feel like loading the tank bag on there since I wasn't going far. This is my backpack setup. I use a mountainsmith padded camera insert. Good, cheap way to carry your gear in pretty much any bag. This is my D7000 in my Kriega US-15 backpack.
