Just scored a nice 200m Lense for my nikon
Some guy's wife bought him one of those new nikon cameras from walmart or etc that dont have the built in a/f motor in the camera so using older lenses is kind of a pain. Just gave him 50 bucks for an old tamrom lense. Thanks my d200 having built in motors i can utilize all the old film lenses.

Understanding your own camera and its place in Nikon's slow (too slow, some would say) transition away from their once universal "F" mount can be a boon as it was for you here.
When I decided to seriously invest in a DSLR my immediate leaning was towards Nikon. After all I own more than a half dozen Nikkor lenses to say nothing of numerous finders, system-integrated flash units, etc. etc.
And my own POV -- formed when Nikon was sticking to its "F" mount while Canon, Minolta and Pentax was leaving their owners high and dry and going with totally non-compatible new mounts -- was "Three cheers for Nikon!"
But it turns out I (and many would say, Nikon) was wrong. In truth, although Nikon's engineers continued to show their customary genius, the requirements of all the new technologies simply had to overwhelm a mount made when it was enough to let the camera body/meter know the f-stop set on the lens and its maximum aperture -- nothing more.
Having the focus motor built into the body was one attempt Nikon made to deal with this, and to have one of their better bodies containing that capability is (and will for some time remain) a real boon. But technology is moving on. New glass with spherical elements is making lenses possible today that could not have been dreamed about even a few years ago. Anti-vibration capability and super-fast US focus drive too.
It was a painful (at first) thing for me to become a Canonite. If I'd had a body in my arsenal like yours I'd likely not have done it.
Congrats on your great purchase! Enjoy!

Hey now!
I shot a gym meet a few years ago with a guy that is a dedicated Nikon shooter. We had comparable equipment in bodies and lenses and in the end when our pics were posted on his site, you really couldn't tell which was which. Where he had me drooling, however, was with some static shots he took of the trophy table. He pulled this old Nikkor hunk of glass out of the bottom of his bag that looked like it came over on the freaking Mayflower and weighed about 100 pounds. Beautiful! Clicked right to the front of his D300 and produced some crazy shots with amazing smooth bokeh. I'm not sure what it was, but it had to be a very large aperture 50 or 80MM. I have a old Canon 50 1.4 SSC in FD mount that I would LOVE to be able to use with my Canon digitals, as the EF variant of this lens would be very expensive these days. The fact that you can use the very nice old Nikkor glass (without adapters and having to stop-down meter) is huge to me...
Love to see the shots you get with that 200MM. I love primes and have Canon's 135 f/2. Not always a practical lens, but when I can use it I really like what it produces.

The emphasis in lens design today is toward long zoom ranges, light weight and moderate prices. Gone (at least for the present) is the market's lust for fast apertures and the gorgeous bokeh that it seems can only come with big, heavy, fast, single focal length lenses. (sigh)
I think my favorite lens of all time was the Nikkor 105 2.5. Such lovely images! I had an early model originally fitted to a 1959 Nikon F - the one with the selenium meter attached in front of the pentaprism. God, that's like saying one loves listening to Rudy Valley played on a hand-cranked phonograph!
