Something fun for camera nuts around here.

Should have posted this a few weeks ago. I started a PAD (Photo-A-Day) gallery on 1 Jan and intend to continue it for the whole year. Not too late to start. I first started the PAD thing in September of last year and decided to keep at it. Its fun and challenging to take a pic every day. It can force you out of a single style of photography (for me sports) and also keeps your post processing skills fresh.

Here's my 2011 PAD. Start your own...

I can take anywhere from 500-1,500 photos a day. After viewing them on my computer, I try to save the best and delete about 90%.

In my case doing a PAD brings me back to why I love photography. When I shoot a gym meet, hockey game, or similar event I can wind up with around a 1000 + pics as well. They are shot in Manual mode, for the most part, and under steady light. Under those conditions, my post processing becomes rather robotic and includes a lot of batch processing after sorting out the keepers. Not a lot of creativity involved and you sort of fall into a rut if that's all you do.

If what you're now shooting make you happy and fulfills the reasons you are interested in photography, cool. Keep at it! In my case I was getting real board with it and my cameras would sit unused until I had a game to shoot. Now I use them every day and my interest in photography has been renewed.
