Stripped oil drain plug ??

This is just an FYI for you fellow Ducati owners.
Some of you may be familiar with my safety wire oil drain plugs for both non deep sump and deep sump Ducatis.

I originally put together the billet magnetic drain plug because I wanted an easy to remove (hex) drain plug that could be easily safety wired for the track. I also wanted to still incorporate a magnet, and therefore designed a magnet to be installed on the "outside" of the plug so that there would be no possible way of it getting loose in the engine.

Most of you have bought the drain plug for the same reasons which is track use.

Increasingly, I am getting a number of Ducati owners who are buying the Nirvana Motorsports mag drain plug because they do not want to risk stripping the oil pan threads using the OEM plug. The reason being is that our billet drain plug is made of a softer 6061 aluminum which will not be able to strip the oil pan (the softer drain plug will strip first). They also do not want to strip the outside allen/hex which will make the plug impossible to get out (with out a chisel).

Once again , thanks to all the ducati.ms members out there.

If the drain plug is actually stripped you can still repair it with a steel insert.
